There is much confusion, misinformation and falsehood regarding Last Day events. This is largely due to Christians not reading or skimming through the Bible. Sadly, many get their theories from memes that promote fear instead of faith. The Mark of the Beast is one of those subjects that continues to cause problems for believers.
Let me remind you what the Bible clearly teaches before we get to the text in question. The Church will never see the Antichrist or his Mark, it will never go through the Great Tribulation or suffer anything in Matthew 24-25 or between Revelation chapters 4 and 19. Why? The Lord Jesus Christ will come to Rapture His own before God's wrath is poured out.
The Mark of the Beast is not any inoculation or injection before the Tribulation. People think a microchip will be injected into their hands and that this chip will be a numbered database of their lives. Please note that Revelation 13:17 makes it very clear that people can take either of three things: The Mark OR The Name OR the Number of the beast. The three things are not the same. So whatever the Mark is, it is not limited to a number. The MARK or the NAME or the NUMBER on the hand or forehead will enable a person in the Tribulation to buy and sell. Notice how that little word "or" makes all the difference to the text, yet most believers fail to see it.
Can the Mark, Name or Number be forced upon those who come to Christ during the Tribulation? Everyone will get a choice to receive it or not. People must want to take it. Those who refuse it can't buy or sell. There is a choice about what a person takes, so it's not a microchip but instead an identification mark. They, or someone putting it on them, choose what form of identification they receive, that is, the MARK or the NAME or the NUMBER. They can't all be a microchip injected beneath the skin. Yes, technology will be part of whatever these three versions of the Mark of the Beast will be, but memes showing a microchip are only majoring on one possible aspect simply to cause fear. As Christians we are not looking to the coming of Antichrist, but instead to the Second Coming of Christ.
