Protesting never ends well, instead it usually, because of human nature, ends in riots, violence, injury, and sometime, death. We do not find believers in either testament engaging in organised protests against those who sought to hinder their faith. They simply kept on obeying God.
When Roman emperor Gaius Caligula commanded that statues of Caesar be erected within the Temple walls in Jerusalem and that Christians must worship Roman gods, Christians opted to face crucifixion or be burned at the stake rather than obey. To have followed the command would have meant violating the first two Commandments — in other words, the emperor demanded that secular law take precedence over God's commandment, which is sacred and inviolable.
We should obey the government up to the point of it ordering us to do that which is against the Word of God. Protesting has no place in our life in Christ though.
